I realize I can write about things I like that others may not have discovered but really let’s take a moment to speak about things that suck...
In this case, despite all the hoopla surrounding it, there can be no question Twin Peaks return to television is a steaming pile of excrement that wastes an hour of its viewers lives.
Let’s face facts, if Twin Peaks had really been any good it would have stuck around for a lot longer than just two seasons (one of which was a short season). The series hasn’t aged well at all. Spending precious minutes watching actors delivered stilted dialog, having the camera stay focused on something that illustrates it's mundane nature does not good entertainment make.
There is nothing about the show I can say that’s good except for the fact that Peggy Lipton has aged exceptionally well. She is the female equivalent of Dorian Gray. Seriously, I don’t know how old the woman is but whatever her secret is that should be the focus of the show because aside from that I’m bored to tears by it.
I can’t say I’ve ever been one of the people who bought into David Lynch’s auteur status and nothing about the new series has dissuaded me of those notions. Having bands appear as some sort of a musical interlude does not make up for a really crappy script.
I realized the only way to watch Twin Peaks and enjoy it is to be high (in an altered state) then I would imagine the oohhss and ahhhsss come frequently but for anyone with a working brain it’s threadbare in terms of plot development and structure.
Hopefully one season is all folks will have to endure before Twin Peaks returns to the Black Lodge and Showtime takes the viewers out of their misery.
